Martha had first started receiving treatment for her left shoulder in 2009. She had significant arthritis, but was sceptical about having surgery, having heard that it was fairly painful. After roughly 4 years of conservative treatment, Martha’s shoulder pain began to get progressively worse and her shoulder function was inhibiting her daily activities. She said her shoulder felt 25% of normal. She decided it was time to undergo a shoulder replacement so she would be able to complete her daily activities with less pain.
